New York Fashion Week came and went in a flash of indoor and outdoor shows, parties, panels, and those long streetstyle walks. The fashion flock returned without missing a beat. But are they forever changed? If it’s any indication, the runways were certainly influenced by a year and a half of lockdown. Instead of leaning into those comfort moments, designers pivoted to overt femininity and true partywear, from naked dresses to bikini tops, gingham to pink. Here, six standout trends from the week.

1. Bikini Life
The message is clear: Don’t wait for summer heat to get your bikini game right. Paired with khakis, pencil skirts, suiting, and more laid-back fare, the bikini top just might be the most versatile piece in your closet come the new year.

2. Crochet All Day
Artisan craft is all the rage for good reason; we’re collectively returning to our roots. Designers took the idea of craft and made it their own—on shorts, over suits, and on gowns. Many worked with traditional artists to achieve and honor tradition, which is truly the only way to move forward while looking back.

3. Going Gingham
There’s something inherently lovely and feminine about gingham. But those checks don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. There are ladylike dresses, of course, but the beloved print can also be found on sporty pieces and even a baseball cap.

4. See Right Through You
Haven’t you heard? The naked dress is back. This time designers are leaning in to all-black versions in sheer lace, paired with high-waisted underwear or more demure bikini briefs. It’s eveningwear that doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination but is also impossibly sexy.

5. Pink, Please
It seems that all those sweatpants in lockdown lead us right here: bubblegum-pink confections. Ladies are hiding no more—bring on the froth in voluminous dresses, frilly tops, and sweet trenches.

6. All White Now
Sheer black gowns not quite your desired after-dark fare? A worthwhile contender for after-dark is the cutout white dress. Give your abs their moment under the moon in high-gloss white.
